Denver house fire leaves home uninhabitable, arson suspected

Denver Fire is investigating a fire as arson after it started in the basement of a home Wednesday night. Firefighters said, while battling the fire, they were also dealing with hoarding conditions inside the home.ย The house is near Franklin Street and Colorado Avenue in Denver’s Platt Park neighborhood. Firefighters said they arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the basement. They got water on the fire and knocked it down and within an hour, the fire was under control.

Firefighters pulled one person from the home and evaluated them; they did not provide an update on that person’s condition. Firefighters said two people were able to evacuate safely. The home is uninhabitable until further notice.ย Denver Fire said arson investigators will now take over the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
