Naloxone vending machines installed in Denver

Harm-reduction vending machines have been installed near three police stations. Theย Denver Police Departmentย said Tuesday three vending machines dispense free Naloxone kits in order to combat fatal opioid overdoses.

Similar in design to a newspaper vending machine, the vending machines are accessible 24/7 located outside the police stations, with no need to enter the buildings. The machines hold up to 75 Naloxone kits and will be restocked on a regular basis. The Naloxone Project has partnered with the Denver Police Department since May 2024.

โ€œWe are grateful for the continued partnership with The Naloxone Project,โ€ Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas said. โ€œWith the goal of saving lives, these vending machines will increase the accessibility of Naloxone for people who are, or know someone, struggling with opioid addiction.โ€

โ€œWe are proud to continue our partnership with the Denver Police Department to launch these three low barrier vending machines into our city โ€” bringing life-saving medication into the hands of the community and providing second chances for those at risk of overdose,โ€ said Joshua Jacoves, Program Director at the Naloxone Project.
