Rescue crews on Sunday night saved a man at the Sugarmill near Longmont after he fell two stories inside the abandoned historic property. The 23-year-old man at about 11 p.m. Sunday called 911 reporting that he fell a โ€œsignificant distanceโ€ and was injured inside the Sugarmill in the 11900 block of Sugarmill Road, according to a press release from the Boulder County Sheriffโ€™s Office.

Boulder County Sheriffโ€™s Office, Longmont Police Department, Mountain View Fire Rescue and Boulder Rural Fire Rescue crews responded and found him using a drone, discovering he had fallen about two stories.

Fire crews used a saw to cut through a wall to get to him. The Sugarmill opened in 1903 as the Great Western Sugar Co. and closed in the 1970s, according to the city of Longmontโ€™s website.
