Evacuation orders lifted after Louviers fires

VIDEO/PHOTOS: The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office provided an update at 7:30 p.m. that evacuation orders for Louviers have been lifted after multiple fires were contained. The fires burned 130 acres, and containment is at 90%. Some areas are going to remain restricted, and crews will remain on scene overnight.

South Metro Fire Rescue at 2:13 p.m. Sunday said they were responding to “multiple vegetation fires” near 9844 Titan Court, then said it was “upgraded to an Urban Interface fire with multiple fires all (sic) the train tracks and spreading in open space with at least one structure threatened.”

The fire has since been upgraded to a second-alarm wildland fire, and South Metro Fire Rescue at 3:02 p.m. said they were requesting immediate evacuation for the town of Louviers. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office helicopter and West Metro Fire are also assisting in the fire.

South Metro at 3:46 p.m. said areas west of Waterton Road are also included in the evacuations. Officials said no structures have been lost, but crews are still battling multiple fires on the north end of the town of Louviers. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 3:58 p.m. said the Douglas County Fairgrounds are open to evacuees.
