Fire crews put out a brush fire in Parachute. On April 21st, The Grand Valley Fire Protection District was called to a brush fire reported at 4:38 p.m. Crews were assisted by other fire agencies from De Beque and Rifle, as well as the Garfield County Sheriffโs Office (GCSO) and Parachute Police Department.
Officials told us the fire has been 100% contained, but crews are still in mop up mode and are monitoring a few hot spots. Parachute PD issued pre-evacuation orders for residents nearby, but the orders were lifted at 8:30 p.m. No injuries were reported, and no nearby structures were damaged. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
