1 resident dies after house fire in Brighton, 2 other residents safe

A resident is dead after a house fire in Brighton on Motherโ€™s Day, according to officials. The fire was reported at about 12:30 p.m. in the 12000 block of East 132nd Avenue, which is a rural area of Brighton. The Brighton Fire Rescue District said that crews, upon arrival, found the structure fully engulfed in smoke.

Ty Ono, a public information officer with Brighton Fire Rescue District, said that crews found two of the three occupants of the home had made it out safely, but one person was still inside. Ono said crews entered under heavy smoke and recovered the patient to immediately begin CPR. The patient succumbed to their injuries, Ono reported.

โ€œThis is a true tragedy, especially being Motherโ€™s Day, a family holiday, families are gathering and celebrating one another, so I want to say on behalf of Brighton Fire Rescue District, sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the family,โ€ Ono said. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
