VIDEO: Two boats go up in flames at Alameda harbor

PHOTOS: Alameda crews responded early Wednesday morning to two boat fires at the Marina Village Yacht Harbor. Alameda Fire Department firefighters were on scene of the boat fires at 1030 Marina Village Parkway by 3:30 a.m. Flames were seen shooting up into the night sky as a crew of 16 firefighters battled the fire. As of 5:20 a.m., the fires were doused, and firefighters were mopping up.

The fires were contained to the initial two vessels, AFD said. Officials said one of the burned boats sunk in the harbor. Booms were being deployed into the water to prevent any possible oil spills from spreading, the fire department said. A man who lived on one of the boats made it out safely. Speaking to KRON4’s Joey Horta, the man said his boat was badly burned and he is now homeless. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
