Small plane makes emergency landing on San Diego highway

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A SIGALERT was issued on the 805 South near the Carrol Canyon Road exit in Sorrento Valley after an aircraft emergency blocked all lanes at around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. CHP reports that a small aircraft crashed into the center divide of the SR-805. โ€œMy husband was yelling a plane… a plane… and I was just likeโ€ฆahhh,โ€ Amber Rivera who witnessed it said. “My husband actually saw the pilotโ€™s face. He described it as very tense while he was landing and my husband watched him as he went down.โ€

San Diego Fire Department told NBC 7 that no patients involved in the crash were transported to the hospital. At 6 p.m. Caltrans announced that all lanes of the SB-805 were blocked, and they were complete reopened three hours later just after 9 p.m. โ€œI was watching and the pilot got out safely, people were stopping, people were getting out of their car and it looked like people were checking on him but it looked like he was safe, but it was very surreal to see, you never see that,” Rivera said.
