Semi crash sparks brush fire near 15 Freeway in San Bernardino; 1 injured

VIDEO: A crash involving two semi-trucks sparked a vegetation fire near the northbound 15 Freeway in Devore on Saturday afternoon, prompting air drops and a multi-agency response, authorities said. San Bernardino County Fire officials said the fire broke out near I-15 and Kenwood Avenue after at least one semi-truck caught fire, sending flames up an embankment and toward nearby homes. The incident was upgraded to a second alarm as firefighters worked to protect structures in the area.

At 1:44 p.m., crews declared the forward rate of spread stopped at approximately four acres and said no structures were damaged. One person was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, officials said. The trucks were reported to be carrying non-hazardous materials, though diesel fuel was involved, according to preliminary information from authorities. The northbound truck bypass was temporarily closed while firefighters conducted air drops and mop-up operations.
