VIDEO: A house fire is under investigation by the Sacramento Fire Department after a possible explosion on Wednesday in Oak Park.
When crews arrived at the scene, firefighters noticed heavy smoke and fire from the back left corner of the house. According to an SFD spokesperson, fire crews started stretching hose lines to knock down the fire.
Once crews got a hose line in place, they heard a “very loud explosion,” the fire department spokespersonsaid. Around 11:30 a.m., the explosion blew the back side of the roof off the home, with some debris landing on neighboring homes, which also sustained glass damage.
The Sacramento Fire Department added that several smaller explosions were also heard throughout the firefight. Officials reported that several neighbors were evacuated, stating that “there was definitely the risk of it spreading to the other homes. These homes are pretty close together.”
