VIDEO: Fire crews in the North Bay knocked down a large fire in Greenbrae right off Highway 101 that burned through a kitesurfing and paddleboarding shop.
The fire broke out early Tuesday morning, around 3:30 a.m., and was called in by CHP officers who saw the smoke. It happened at Live2kite, which was gutted, and everything inside the business has been lost.
The shop sits between self-storage facilities in an industrial area, but the fire has been contained and did not spread to the other buildings.
“We had fire through the roof, crews initiated an aggressive exterior defensive fire attack, holding the fire to the building of origin,” said Battalion Chief Ezra Colman with the Central Marin Fire Department.
There were no injuries and it’s unclear how the fire started.
The owner was out of town and his family on the scene Tuesday did not want to give an official statement, but said staff had just finished sweeping water out of the building just the day before, after being flooded by the king tides.
