House explodes in Chino Hills, leaving at least 8 people hurt; video shows flames, debris

VIDEO: A house reportedly exploded in a Chino Hills neighborhood on Sunday, leaving at least eight people injured. A witness told Eyewitness News they heard a very loud explosion around 3:45 p.m. It happened at a home in the 4200 block of Sierra Vista Drive. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, it was a possible gas leak that led to the explosion, though the cause is still under investigation.

AIR7 video from above the scene shows a brick fence along the driveway still on fire around 5 p.m., plus the debris and destruction from the possible explosion. A large portion of the home was reduced to rubble, and it appears debris even landed in a neighbor’s driveway. Vehicles in the driveway were parked near the open flames. Video shows a large emergency response outside the home. Fire officials said multiple homes nearby also had minor damage.
