VIDEO: As firefighters across Southern California rescued people from precarious situations during Tuesdayโs storm, Ventura County crews saved a small dog that was trapped in a flood channel. Firefighters from the Ventura County Fire Department were sent to the Revolon Slough in the Oxnard Plains at around 9:30 a.m. and found the small dog finding refuge on top of the collection of reeds and debris in the middle of the swelling river.
Crews extended a 35-foot ground ladder toward the dog as a member of the swift water rescue team got into the water to pull the pup into safety, the fire department said. Itโs not clear how the 3-year-old female pup ended up in the river. Experts from the Ventura County Animal Services believe that the dog is a Pug or French Bulldog mix. The dog was unharmed, but county officials tried to track down her owner as the pup did not have a tag on its collar and was not microchipped.
