Fire that destroyed historic Black Butte Saloon in Siskiyou County was arson, two teens identified

VIDEO: The fire that destroyed the historic Black Butte Saloon in Siskiyou County last month was determined to be intentionally set, according to investigators. The blaze, which erupted on Sept. 28 on Main Street in Weed, was caused by arson, and two teen suspects have been identified.

The case has been forwarded to the Siskiyou County District Attorney’s Office for further action. City Manager Dustin Stambaugh expressed gratitude to the multiple agencies involved in the investigation for their efforts and thanked the community for its patience during the process.
