Crews take less than 40 minutes to extinguish large South Gate commercial fire 

VIDEO: A large fire at a commercial building in South Gate was put out in less than 40 minutes thanks to valiant efforts from firefighters. According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department Public Information Officer, units were dispatched to the second-alarm structure fire near Firestone Boulevard and Garfield Avenue in South Gate at 1:16 a.m. Saturday. The location was later updated to the 5900 block of Firestone. The first units arrived in the area within three minutes and found the one-story building ablaze. Video posted to the Citizen App shows heavy smoke billowing into the night sky as crews fought the flames. By 1:57 a.m., crews transitioned to defensive mode, the PIO said. It took a total of 37 minutes after that to achieve knockdown.  No one was injured in the fire. Its cause is not clear.
