A Chico man was arrested for hostile behavior and aggravated resisting an executive officer. On Tuesday, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Chico Police officers responded to an emergency call from Butte EMS and Chico Fire regarding a hostile patient. The man, identified as 21-year-old Owen Trainer, became combative and threatened EMS personnel and witnesses while medical aid was being rendered.
According to Chico Police, the first officer on the scene tried to deescalate Trainer’s aggressive behavior, but he continued to resist commands. Officer Stalnaker arrived shortly after and successfully executed a take-down maneuver. Chico Police added that despite a brief struggle, officers managed to handcuff Trainer and applied a full-body restraint system known as “The Wrap” to prevent further injury to himself or the officers.
Trainer was transported to a local medical facility for treatment of injuries sustained before police arrival. He was later taken to Butte County Jail. According to Chico Police, he now faces charges of aggravated obstructing/resisting an executive officer and obstructing/resisting a peace officer or emergency medical technician.
