Bakersfield Fire Department to donate fire engine to sister city Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico

The Bakersfield Fire Department announced it will hold a ceremony to donate a fire engine to sister city Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico on Friday. The donation event is set for 8:30 a.m. on June 6 at BFD Headquarters, located at 2101 H Street. Members of the public are welcome to attend. The gift is meant to symbolize the cross-border collaboration, training exchanges and mutual support between Bakersfield and Santiago de Querétaro since the two became sister cities in July 2005, according to the department. “This donation is more than just equipment, it’s a testament to our shared values of service, preparedness, and community,” said Bakersfield Fire Chief Kevin Albertson. “We are proud to support our fellow firefighters in Querétaro and look forward to continued collaboration.” The two cities have shared donations and joint training programs in the past to improve fire and rescue operations for both, according to BFD.
