After 18 years with the Crossett Fire Department, Michael Willhite has been promoted to fire chief. Willhite previously served as assistant chief and fire marshal. He succeeds Bo Higginbotham, who is transitioning into a public works role, according to city officials.
Willhite said the department feels like family and that teamwork keeps firefighters strong during emergencies. โWe spend so much time together, it really is like family here,โ Willhite said. He said his priorities include training, updating equipment and strengthening trust with the community. Willhite officially stepped into his new role this week.
