Local nonprofit contributes $25,000 to Little Rock’s ‘Love Your Firefighters’ program

A Little Rock nonprofit organization donated in an event on Monday to fund quality-of-life improvements for city firefighters.

The $25,000 donation was made by Fifty for the Future. Fifty for the Future is a Pulaski County organization made up of business leaders focusing on economic opportunities and quality of life in the county. The donation was made as part of the city’s “Love Your Firefighters” program. Fifty for the Future President Merritt Dyke said the donation was a way of paying back.

“Our firefighters show up for us every day, often at great personal risk,” Dyke said. “This contribution is our way of showing up for them.” Dyke added that helping make firefighters’ time on duty more comfortable was a way to let them know that the business community appreciates the hard work that they do to keep the community safe.

Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. said the donation was timely. “We appreciate Fifty for the Future for reaffirming its commitment to Little Rock and to the Fire Department through this donation to the Love Your Firefighters fundraising initiative,” the mayor said. “While the City continues to make public safety its main priority through our recent $2.5 million allocation for capital expenditures, we are glad for the community support shown through this campaign to upgrade furnishings.” Firefighter Matthew Stallings expressed his gratitude to Fifty for the Future on behalf of firefighters throughout Little Rock who will benefit from the funds.
