The City of Mayflower has announced the appointment of William E. “Will” Biswell II as the city’s new Fire Chief. Biswell was hired after a nationwide search that attracted candidates from multiple states.
The search process lasted five weeks and included panel interviews that focused on finding a leader with exceptional experience, training expertise and a commitment to public safety.
Chief Biswell’s career is highlighted by 25 years of distinguished service in fire and emergency medical services across Oklahoma. Biswell retired as Training Major from the Yukon, Oklahoma, Fire Department. There, he oversaw Fire and EMS education for a 39-member department and he earned two Certificates of Merit for exemplary service.
Biswell has also seen roles as a Flight Paramedic with Air Evac Lifeteam and Director of Emergency Medical Technology at Redlands Community College. Biswell holds a bachelor’s degree in Emergency Response Administration from Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City and maintains extensive certifications including being a Nationally Registered Paramedic, Fire Instructor II, Fire Officer II, Blue Card Command, and life support instructor credentials.
Chief Biswell is also an accomplished softball coach, with a national championship to his resume. He has been married to his wife, Lindsey, for 21 years and they have two children. โWe are thrilled to welcome Chief Biswell to Mayflower,” Mayor Zach Jeffery said. “His depth of experience and passion for training and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our fire and emergency services for the community.โ
