US 60 reopens after crash, car fire cause hours-long closure in Mesa

The US 60 has reopened after a crash that closed the roadway for multiple hours for early morning travelers in the East Valley on Saturday morning. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the crash was reported around 6 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of US 60 between Mesa and Stapley drives.

Department of Public Safety troopers say multiple vehicles were involved, but itโ€™s unknown how many people were injured. Traffic cameras showed a pickup truck damaged in the collision, while another car went up in flames. Just before 7:30 a.m., crews started directing traffic off the freeway onto Stapley Drive. The roadway was reopened just after 10 a.m., according to ADOT.
