Officials say a firefighter has been hospitalized after a fire ripped through a mobile home in the far West Valley Friday afternoon.
Arizona Fire & Medical Authority said the blaze broke out around 1:30 p.m. on Palo Verde Road, about 1.5 miles north of Interstate 10. When firefighters showed up, they found the double-wide home fully engulfed in flames, forcing crews to go defensive as flames shot up through the roof. One person suffered smoke inhalation while a firefighter was rushed to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
Fire crews said an elderly couple is displaced as a result of the blaze. No other information has been released, and what caused the fire remains under investigation.
