Electrical fire sparks evacuation for Buckeye neighborhood, roads blocked

A reported electrical fire forced a dozen homes to evacuate on Wednesday night in a remote Buckeye neighborhood. It happened in the Tartesso Community near Thomas Road and about a mile west of Sun Valley Parkway. The Buckeye Fire Medical Rescue Department confirmed 12 houses were evacuated, but it’s unclear how many people were impacted.

Investigators said a small fire started in an underground electric vault, which provides power at a water pump station for the neighborhood. The fire was extinguished around 10 p.m. There’s no information on what started the fire. Buckeye Water assisted the community in repairing the well site so people did not lose water.
