VIDEO: A serious crash partially closed the U.S. 60 in the East Valley early Tuesday morning. The crash happened around 2:25 a.m. on the U.S. 60 eastbound between Lindsay Road and Val Vista Drive. The freeway reopened hours later, around 7:45 a.m.
A spokesperson for the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) said the crash was caused by a white passenger car rear-ending a semi-truck with a tanker that is believed to have been carrying fuel.
DPS said after the crash, the semi-truck moved to the shoulder, but the passenger car stayed in the lanes. It was then struck by two additional vehicles. The driver of the white car was taken to the hospital, where he later died, DPS confirmed. One other person had minor injuries.
