Anchorage firefighter discovers shivering kittens dropped off outside the station

VIDEO: It was a normal Wednesday morning at Fire Station 11 in Eagle River when a firefighter made a puzzling discovery- a box sitting outside by a door with a note. The author said two kittens couldnโ€™t be cared for and they wanted to leave them somewhere safe.

Firefighter John Saari said there were no kittens in the box or seemingly close by. It wasnโ€™t until a few hours later when he was leaving the station for the day when he spotted them.

โ€œI saw what I thought initially was just a clump of dirty snow but it started moving a little bit,โ€ Saari said. โ€œI realized it was a kitten laying in a puddle of water, shivering.โ€

The second kitten was hiding behind a bucket by the door, Saari said it was also wet and shivering. Saari, an animal lover who has several pets himself, was a bit dismayed that the kittens had been left outside, possibly overnight.
