VIDEO: The Anchorage Fire Department rescued two people from a rising tide on Ship Creek Tuesday. According to a Facebook post, AFD dispatch received a call around 4:47 p.m. from a man claiming he and a young family member found themselves in quickly rising water and the sandbar they fished from was shrinking due to the rising tide. They had waders but no lifejackets and the water had reached their armpits. The AFD arrived on the scene with a Battalion Chief and Safety Officer. The two were decked with lifejackets and taken to shore. Paramedics and EMTs did a preliminary assessment on both. Neither received transport for further medical treatment, according to the post.
