Vestavia Hills Fire Department moves forward with state-of-the-art training facility

VIDEO: The Vestavia Hills Fire Department is preparing to elevate its training capabilities with the development of a new, state-of-the-art facility designed to better equip its firefightersโ€”and those across the regionโ€”for real-life emergencies. This week, the Vestavia Hills City Council unanimously approved plans for a million-dollar, four-story training facility. The site will be constructed on property currently owned by the neighboring city of Mountain Brook, where Vestavia Hills has a long shared training space. Deputy Fire Chief Scott Ferrell says the new facility represents a major leap forward for the department. โ€œIt is going to be one of the premier training facilities in the area, in the state. Itโ€™s going to be a four-story facility. Itโ€™s going to be state-of-the-art. Our personnel and the departments that are going to be using it, theyโ€™re looking forward to being able to use it,โ€ he said
