VIDEO/PHOTOS: A house fire in Spanish Fort on Monday night left a local hero and his family devastated. Flames tore through a home in the Cambron neighborhood in Spanish Fort.
The home belonged to a Spanish Fort police officer and his family. Police Chief John Barber tells News 5 about Sgt. Steven McGough and his dedication to the city.
“You have a man who served this community for over two decades,” Chief Barber said. “This is a 21-year veteran of the department, someone who’s used to helping others in a time of need that all of a sudden becomes somebody that is in need.”
McGough, his wife, their 12-year-old son, and all of their pets made it out safely, but the house is a total loss.
