VIDEO: Mobile firefighters went on a special mission on Monday morning. The Mobile Firefighters Association Local 1349 went on a shopping spree at the Beltline Road Walmart for toys for disabled residents at the Mulherin Home. This tradition has brought joy to both the residents and the firefighters for 40 years. The Mulherin Home is a non-profit facility that houses around 30 special needs adults.
“We don’t just help when we’re at work. We are always either volunteering at fire departments or volunteering on our days off, working for ambulance services. So this is a lifestyle for us. And we’ve signed up to help the community the best we can,” Mobile Fire Rescue Association President Seth Blitch said. This special event is followed by Santa Claus delivering the gifts in a fire truck on Christmas Eve.
