Capt. Cary J. Hunter has been named Firefighter of the Month for April, the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department announced Tuesday. Hunter serves in the Emergency Medical Services Division, where he oversees the management of controlled substances, acts as a stroke liaison, and handles DHR referrals for cases involving potential neglect or abuse, the MFRD said. After serving in the U.S. Army for seven years, Hunter joined Mobile Fire-Rescue in 2000. He is also a paramedic, hazardous materials technician, rescue technician, and a swift water rescue swimmer, according to the MFRD.
