Mobile County: Alabama Forestry Commission Weighs in on I-10 Fire

VIDEO: According to the Alabama Forestry Commission, roughly four acres were burned during the grass fire along I-10 between Theodore Dawes Road and McDonald Road on Wednesday. The fire started just after 4 p.m. behind the interstate near the Amazon Fulfillment Center.

Theodore Dawes Fire-Rescue and Mobile Police were also on the scene to help contain the flames. The fire was contained around 6 p.m., and crews will keep monitoring the area to prevent any flare-ups. AFC Mobile County Forester, Lucas Jones, told News 5 they have seen an increase in wildfires due to the recent dry spell.

โ€œWeโ€™ve been definitely seeing an uptick in them recently,โ€ said Jones. โ€œYou know, weโ€™re just going to continue to see them as long until we get some more rain. Luckily, they havenโ€™t been too big, and theyโ€™ve been fairly manageable,โ€ Jones said. The AFC wants to remind residents to use extra caution, with a statewide fire danger advisory still in effect.
