Large brush fire reported near Prattville’s International Paper Mill

The Alabama Forestry Commission worked to contain a brush fire that broke out near the International Paper Mill in Prattville Monday, according to the Prattville Fire Department. The cause of the fire was not immediately known, but Prattville Fire said multiple county fire departments, along with Autauga County Rescue were on the scene working to contain it.

Officials also said people in the area should expect to see a large amount of smoke for the next several hours. The Prattville and Pine Level Fire Departments have shared posts on Facebook urging people not to open burn due to recent drought-like conditions.

Pine Level Fire responded Sunday to multiple brush fires in Autauga County, which they say were caused by outdoor burning.
