Jacksonville mother, daughter lose everything in house fire

VIDEO: A Jacksonville mother and her daughter lost everything they owned in a house fire Easter Sunday evening, April 20. Jacksonville Fire Marshal Rodney Ball says the fire was burning inside the home for up to fifteen minutes before anyone even realized it. Ball says crews were called to Finley Street about a kitchen fire around 5 p.m. Sunday Evening. Ball says people at the home reported smelling something burning. He says when they walked to the carport and opened the door to go inside the house, oxygen fueled the fire, causing it to spread outside to the carport area. Ball says after one car caught fire, an energized power line fell across the second car, starting that fire and also melting the vinyl siding of the home next door.
