Fire destroys Tuscaloosa county home, community rallies for Christmas aid

A fire broke out early Tuesday morning in the Woodland Lake Rd and Teddy Dr area of Tuscaloosa County, engulfing a home in flames. The Lakeview Fire Department (LFD) responded at 3:11 a.m., finding the structure heavily involved with fire on all sides. All six family members escaped with minor injuries, including one case of smoke inhalation.

Mutual aid was provided by Green Pond Fire & Rescue, Brookwood Fire Department, Vance Volunteer Fire Dept, and Antioch Volunteer Fire Department. The family is receiving assistance from the Red Cross but is in need of gently used clothing and shoes.

The community is encouraged to help provide a special Christmas for the family, especially the two young children. The Board of Directors and Fire Chief expressed gratitude, saying, “Thanks for being the greatest community to live in.”
