Fire danger advisory issued in Blount County after blaze nearly engulfs home

PHOTOS: A fire that began as a trash pile on Campbell Road in Warrior quickly spread to nearby woods and structures, prompting a swift response from Mt. High Fire & Rescue, Ricetown Volunteer Fire Department, Corner Volunteer Fire and Rescue and West Blount Fire District – Hayden, along with the State Fire Marshal and Alabama Forestry.

The fire was contained before it could fully involve a neighboring home, where the resident was asleep. Authorities have issued a Fire Danger Advisory, urging residents to refrain from outdoor burning until sufficient rainfall occurs. Updates are available on the Alabama Forestry Commission’s Facebook page.

In a separate incident in Chilton County, North and West Chilton fire crews responded to a brush fire on Highway 201 just after 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The North Chilton Fire Department confirmed the fire burned up to half an acre, after a trash fire got out of control. No one was hurt. The fire has been contained.
