Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams honored at final city commission meeting of 2025

VIDEO: Fire Chief Larry Williams was presented with a retirement plaque at the last Dothan City Commission meeting before 2026, marking the end of a career spanning more than 40 years with the city’s fire department. Williams spent 19 of those years as fire chief, overseeing several improvements, including the construction of new stations and the implementation of baby boxes throughout his tenure. During the meeting, Williams credited his colleagues for making his time as chief meaningful.

“And then the men and women of the Dothan Fire Department that actually make things happen. That’s where it occurs, where that rubber meets the road on those fire trucks, those ambulances, those police officers, those dispatchers, and those people who always step up to take care of public safety. And I am grateful to just be a part of them because they’re awesome people,” Williams said.

Williams said the fire department is in good hands with his successor, David Hasty, who will take over next month.
