City says final goodbyes to Anniston Fire Chief Jeff Waldrep

VIDEO/PHOTOS: The City of Anniston honored the life of Fire Chief Jeff Waldrep Friday afternoon. Visitation and a funeral service were held at Golden Springs Baptist Church, followed by a procession to Dogwood Trail Memorial Gardens. Dozens of first responders and departments across the area participated in the procession. Waldrep often referred to the fire service as a brotherhood, according to his daughter, Rylee Waldrep Corkern. Waldrep spent 31 years with the Anniston Fire Department. After working his way up the ranks, he became fire chief in 2020. Waldrep also served in leadership roles for the Alabama Fire Chiefs Association, including president. He worked at the Alabama Fire College and was a board member of the Calhoun County 911 Board of Commission, the Anniston Planning Commission, and the Cheaha Regional Head Start Health Advisory Committee.
