City of Dothan names new fire chief

VIDEO: Dothan Commissioners have appointed David Hasty, the current Chief of Operations for the Dothan Fire Department, as the new fire chief. Chief Hasty joined the Dothan Fire Department in 1999, following a two-year tenure with the Dothan Police Department.

After graduating from the Dothan Fire Recruit School, he has worked for 19 years in Operations, gaining knowledge and experience that enabled him to progress from firefighter to Sergeant, then to Captain, and ultimately to Battalion Chief in the Operations division. In 2022, Chief Hasty was promoted to deputy chief and currently holds the position of Chief of Operations.

In addition to his experience with the City of Dothanโ€™s Public Service, Chief Hasty retired from the Air National Guard in 2015 as a Chief Master Sergeant with 26 years of service. During this time, he spent two years on active duty for โ€œOperation Noble Eagleโ€ following the September 11, 2001, events. Chief Hasty will assume his duties on January 1, 2026
