Mount Vernon Fire Chief Bryan Brice has announced his upcoming retirement.
According to a news release from the city of Mount Vernon, Brice will officially be stepping down April 30, 2025.
Brice started as fire chief in August 2016 and has since helped lead the department through many challenges and improve the city’s approach to public safety.
One of the largest challenges he faced during his tenure, according to the news release, was to transition to a fire-based emergency medical service system and serving as a unified commander during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Serving as the Fire Chief of Mount Vernon has been one of the greatest honors of my professional career,” Brice said in the release.
According to the release Donovan will be announcing an administration transition plan in the coming weeks in order to ensure a smooth transition for the department.
