The months-long search for the next Kittitas Valley Fire & Rescue chief has come to an end. The Fire Protection District No. 2 Board of Commissioners unanimously decided Wednesday to offer the job to Jon Perry. Perry was one of three candidates. He will replace Chief John Sinclair, who is stepping down at the end of this year. In a meeting Wednesday morning, the commissioners went into two closed-door executive sessions to evaluate each candidate and make a decision. The first lasted an hour. The second lasted 30 minutes. There was no discussion by board members before the vote. Following the final executive session, the meeting ended in less than three minutes. The only insights were offered after one of the nine employees uniformed asked during “good of the order” about the timeline in the process of bringing aboard a new chief.
