VIDEO: Firefighters in downtown Seattle reported instances of someone attempting to steal their fire engine while crews were responding to calls this past week. The first incident happened Wednesday while crews were responding to a small fire at the intersection of Eighth Avenue and Spring Street. According to the Seattle Fire Department, the crew of Engine 10 was away from the fire truck and found an approximately 40-year-old woman sitting in the driver seat when they returned. The woman was unsuccessful in her attempt to take the truck and she was offered mental health resources. On Thursday, the Engine 10 crew responded to an overdose call at Third Avenue and Marion Street when an approximately 50-year-old woman boarded the fire truck and got into the driver’s seat.
