Seattle firefighters investigating intentionally set fires in Pioneer Square, Chinatown-International District

The Seattle Fire Department and the Seattle Police Department are warning of an uptick in intentionally set fires in Seattle's Pioneer Square and Chinatown-International District neighborhoods. Seattle fire said seven fires were set on Oct. 2. They said most of the fires occurred during the hours of 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. The fires include five rubbish or dumpster fires, an electric scooter fire, and a fire at a business in the 1000 block of S. Jackson St. that is closed and undergoing remodeling. Investigators with Seattle fire and SPD's Arson and Bomb Squad said they are not releasing any additional information on the fires while they conduct the investigation. SFD and SPD are urging the public to call 911 if they see someone setting a fire.
