VIDEO: A Gresham firefighter is still fighting for his life after being hurt on the job. The fire chief said his injuries are the most serious he has ever seen. “This is certainly the worst firefighter injury we’ve had in Gresham Fire Department in its history,” Scott Lewis, Gresham Fire Chief, said. Gresham Fire Chief Scott Lewis described what happened to firefighter Spencer Tejedas on May 30. “Firefighter Spencer Tejedas had more severe injuries, he had burns on 45% of his body,” Lewis said. “He’s still in critical condition.” On that day, Tejedas went into a house fire in southeast Portland thinking a child may have been trapped inside, which ended up not being the case. Authorities have since learned new details about what may have led to the blaze.
