VIDEO: Blue River now has a new fire station up and operating almost four years after the devastating 2020 Holiday Farm Fire burned theirs down. Station 2 in Blue River is part of the Upper McKenzie Rural Fire Protection District, protecting the rural areas from potential fire threats. Christiana Rainbow Plews had been with the district both before and after the Holiday Farm Fire. Recently, she decided to retire as Fire Chief, but only after the new station was completed and fully operational. Plews said the new facility compared to the old one is a difference between night and day. "It’s bigger and the building we had prior to the fire was really just a garage to house the trucks and equipment. It was not like a fire station,” she said.
