PHOTOS: Various amounts of smoke and dust filled the classrooms and hallways of the vacant Karl Richter building. Sounds of saws could be heard as walls, floors and roofs were being cut open. Saturday, June 8 was a day of invaluable life-saving training for members of eight fire departments. Approximately 200 first responders converged on the Karl Richter Campus in Holly Village to take part in four two-hour evolutions of training. Groups worked together and trained outside on the grounds, on the roof, inside the many rooms and even the tunnel that runs underneath the building. The Karl Richter campus is set to be torn down and a new Holly Middle School will be built in this space. The property is in the hands of Auch Construction and the demolition team will be taking it down within days.
