VIDEO: The two firefighters who were hospitalized after battling an early morning blaze that damaged four homes in Peoria’s North Valley have been released, the city’s fire chief said.
According to Shawn Sollberger, the duo was treated with fluids and released not long after they arrived. They were treated for overexertion and dehydration, the chief said.
The fire, located in the 3300 block of Northeast Madison Avenue, was called in at about 2 a.m., according to new information released from the department. When crews arrived, they found a 1-story house fully engulfed in flames. It was collapsing on top of itself and spreading to other homes, the department said.
In all, four homes were affected by the flames. At one point, more than half of the department’s personnel and trucks were on hand to fight the fire, according to Battalion Chief Jeff Hascall.
