Two residents safely escaped a fire that broke out in Naperville early Wednesday. Firefighters were called to the 3400 block of Caine Drive just after midnight after the residents reported smelling smoke in their home. When fire crews got to the scene, they found heavy smoke coming from the home's basement. The basement fire had destroyed the subfloor and begun to spread to the house's upper floors. The fire was put out in just over 20 minutes. No one was hurt in the blaze, which caused $150,000 in damage to the home. The house was deemed to be uninhabitable and the cause of the fire had not been determined as of Wednesday afternoon.
