Firefighter injured in Independence fire

The Independence Fire Department tells KCRG-TV9 that a firefighter was injured during a fire early Wednesday morning. The fire department says it received a report at 4:32 a.m. for a fire at Best Cob on Bland Blvd. The fire has since been put out. The fire department says a fine, corn cob powder had caught fire inside the warehouse. An Independence firefighter was injured during efforts to put out the fire. That firefighters was treated at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Firefighters from Jesup and Hazleton also responded to the scene. According to its website, Best Cob is an industry-leading, all-natural corncob manufacturer.
