A house fire in Kalihi Monday is estimated to have caused over $1 million in damages.
The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) responded with 10 units, staffed with 39 personnel, to a building fire at 907 Winant Street.
The first unit arrived at 11:46 a.m. to find flames emanating from the back and right side of that two-story house.
HFD personnel established command, secured a water supply, and began attacking the flames, which had spread to the back of two houses on either side of the main or center house. When facing 907 Winant Street, the house to the left is 911 Winant Street and the house to the right is 903 Winant Street.
The HFD had to fight the flames from inside two of the structures, 907 and 911 Winant Street.
The intense heat from the fire also damaged a pickup truck, parked on the street near the back of the house at 903 Winant Street.
