Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero will have to appoint a new head of the Guam Fire Department after Chief Daniel C. Stone resigned from his post Monday.
The governor’s director of communications, Krystal Paco-San Agustin, confirmed Adelup’s receipt of the letter of resignation that took effect Monday.
Appointment for an acting fire chief will be forthcoming, she said.
“Chief Stone provided steadfast leadership during our pandemic response, secured additional assets for GFD including incoming fire trucks and the NextGen (911) system, and helped to pioneer our paramedic program. We thank Chief Stone for his service,” Paco-San Agustin said in a statement. The governor appointed Stone in 2019 and as of Monday, there’s no word whether there will be more cabinet leadership changes during the Leon Guerrero-Tenorio administration’s second four-year term.
